About Us

Hello and welcome. My name is Tracey-Ann Melville, owner and founder of Trauma Assist Management Services.

“Trauma is defined as a unique individual experience triggered by a sudden, external overwhelming event or of persistent overwhelming conditions in which one’s ability to cope is compromised, as one experiences a real or perceived threat to his/her life, bodily integrity, or that of a significant other (Saakvitne, K. et al, 2000).” In the current climate in South Africa, we are often bombarded with various forms of physical or emotional trauma, be it crime, violence, car accidents, various forms of abuse, car accidents, the witnessing of such events to name a few.

Trauma resulting from a one-time experience or multiple events effects people differently. Initial reactions to trauma can include exhaustion, confusion, sadness, anxiety, agitation, numbness, dissociation, confusion, feeling of guilt, and blunted affect. These are common but can affect your day-to-day living and interaction with others, negatively affecting work and home life.

Counselling persons been affected by traumatic events since 2012, at times at the scene of an incident, has brought Trauma Assist to life.  Trauma Assist is your safe space where you will be empowered with new found hope to freely express the trauma experienced. On this journey we will be your companion and we shall travel this road of healing and comfort regulating any physiological or psychological symptoms experienced after your exposure to trauma. Allow us to assist you in escaping the cage you are in and discover your “new normal” after trauma. We will assist in the healing of your broken wings, stretch them out and get you to thrive and fly.

Your peace of mind is our priority.
